Piggy Tail @ Jalan Telawi, Bangsar (Non-Halal)

3:01:00 AM

Pork knuckle, pork chop, pork ribs, bak kut teh and Roasted Pork are just some of my favourite pork dishes. From time to time, we crave something juicy, tender, flavourful and sometimes, fattening. The fatter the better! But, as hard as it is for me to admit, good pork dishes are pretty are to find. Hence, whenever there is a new pork-restaurant opening, you can count on me to try it out!

Previously known as Foodtique, and owned by the same company - Four Seasons. It has been revamped into what is now known as Piggy Tail. Exterior-wise, it looks pretty similar with a change of signboard but the interior has been totally renewed. The menu as well, has been changed to cater to a new market.

Some highlights of Piggy Tail includes awesome pork dishes such as pork knuckle, pork burger, wine and cocktails!

Piggy Pork Burger - RM28

Simply put, the patty itself was extremely juicy and flavourful. No additional sauce was required for this awesome burger. Though I wished that the height of the burger was more mouth friendly but nevertheless, it was great. Not to mention the crispy curly fries on the side!

Pork Short Ribs, Pork Long Ribs and Pork Knuckle - RM58, RM55 and RM86

*Do note that these were not original servings, they were simply tasting portion as it would be inhumane for me to finish everything.

I shall start with the short ribs. Flavour-wise, it was great. Sweet, tangy and a little smokey. The meat itself was also tender and moist, which helped alot when separating the meat from the bones. The flavour and juiciness intensifies when closing in towards the bone. Hence, it is advised to use your hands to enjoy the simple pleasures of life.

The long ribs however, was slightly tough compared to the short ribs, perhaps due to overcooking. However, the one great thing was the rendered fat. Juicy, succulent and full of flavour. The fat itself was great despite the toughness of meat.

Pork knuckle, possibly the star of this platter. Crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Improted Sakura pork was one of the most important factor that contributes to the tenderness of the meat besides the preperation and cooking method. Fresh and no sense of foul-pig scent. Great flavour, awesome texture (crackling skin) and a huge portion! Definitely shareable among 2-3 person.

Beef Lover and Signature Lamb Chop - RM48 and RM45
*Again, this is not the actual serving portion as the reason was stated before. I'm human =D

To begin, the beef ribs was supremely tender. It was so tender that a spoon could literally take it apart with ease. I suspect it was initially braised then roasted and served with their homemade BBQ sauce. Reason being was the beef itself had that hint of oriental-body with a smokey and tangy finish (bbq sauce). Regardless of the method or sauce used - it was simply delicious.

Having said that, my favourite would have to go the Signature Lamb Chop. Simply put, it is extremely rare to find such a well-seasoned lamb with sauce while maintaining it's natural flavours. The depth of flavours shown was truly exceptional. Highly recommended for this year's Valentine's Day Menu.

Yes, both these dishes can be found in their 2015 Valentine's Day menu - under mains.

Signature Truffle Ice Cream - RM18

Though I'm sure that there are several restaurants in Malaysia offering bacon bits on ice cream, none of them has come close to the combination of flavour and texture displayed here. That strong truffle taste that lingers on your tongue along with the sweet chocolate fudge and savoury bacon bits gives not only flavour, but exceptional texture to the dish. A great dessert to end it with.

*The signature truffle ice cream is also available in their 2015 Valentine's Day Menu - under dessert.

Apart from those western delicacies, here are some oriental-style delicacies that I've tried that day. Pig tail, pig intestines and pig-skin? Don't really know how to translate them from Cantonese to English but I can assure you the taste was truly unique. Took me some time to get a hang of it.

Here is the Valentine's Day menu at only RM188 per couple. And simply add on RM50 for a bottle of wine! Definitely an awesome deal for this Valentine's Day.

In conclusion, Piggy Tail has definitely lived up to the name of "Piggy". They offer quality pork dishes at a reasonable price - along with some of their awesome collection of wine, spirits, beer and cocktails! Choose from a variety of drinks available, to compliment the dish of your choice. If in doubt, the manager would definitely step in to help you select the perfect partner for your choice of food. Overall, great service, great ambiance (though the music may be a little too loud for me to have a conversation) and great food.
