Fish & Co's New Menu Tasting @ The Mines, Sri Kembangan
8:00:00 AMI have always been a fan of Fish & Co ever since my departure from Manhattan Fish Market. First tried it at Pavilion and felt that it was much better than any fish & chips franchise I've had. The price was pretty reasonable as well considering the portion. Overall, I've eaten a few times in Fish & Co Pavilion before actually attending the Media Launch for the new menu tasting.
Look at all the balloons!
Photo taking area. A very well thought-of move.
Although 4x smaller than the Pavilion Outlet, it was still able to fit quite a number of pax.
Fried shrimp cocktail with cucumber.
New Menu
Fisherman's Platter
Grilled pan of calamari, mussels, fish fillet, baked prawns and juicy tender grilled chicken. All served on a bed of mashed potatoes and paella rice.
Fry King's Platter
A pan-ful of golden calamari, prawns fritters, white fish, fried chicken and curry butter clams, served with mashed potatoes and paella rice that comes together in a hearty meal.
Fried Chicken with Peri-Peri Prawns
Fish & Co's interpretation of Surf n' Turf with crispy juicy chicken thigh, succulent Peri-Peri prawns and coleslaw served on paella rice.
Clams with Sambal Sauce
Fresh clams served with sweet sambal sauce and warm bread.
Grilled Parmesan White Fish
Delicate fish fillet stuffed with parmesan cheese and served with Fish & Co's signature lemon butter sauce.
Baked White Fish with Mozza Cheese
A cheesy creation of spiced baked fish topped with mozzarella cheese.
Peach Rainbow, Candy Crush & Passion Fruit Mojito
Peach Rainbow is a fusion between cranberry and peach with soda water.
Candy Crush is a unique concoction of lychee and strawberries for the ultimate sugar rush! Believe me, it was sweet as hell!
Passion Fruit Mojito was my favourite. Lime, mint leaves & passion fruit quench my thirst almost immediately. Love the flavour and refreshingness of the drink.
Tasting Platter
This was my tasting platter, which consists of the main stars from different dishes above. Fried Chicken from the Fry King's Platter, Baked White Fish with Mozza Cheese, Grilled Parmesan White Fish, Clams with Sambal Sauce, Baked Prawns from the Fisherman's Platter, fries and Paella rice below.
One word to sum it all, it was amazing. My favourite would be the fish. I cant tell which I like better as the both of them were really good. I like the flavours of the Grilled Parmesan White fish but love the cheese on the Baked White Fish. Furthermore, the rice was truly fragrant. Covered with some curry powder and spices during the cooking process, the flavour was subtle but noticeable as well. The additional sweet raisins in the rice gave that little surprise and flavour to it.
The sambal clams were pretty good as well. Although I did find some of the clams to have not been cleaned properly, most of it were okay. The flavour of the sambal was more towards the sweet side as compared to being spicy. I would prefer it to be slightly spicier but majority may not accept it. So it was all good.
Prawns were succulent and juicy with a tingie of seasoning. Fries were pretty good as well; crispy on the outside and filled with mashy potato inside. Unfortunately however, the chicken was a little off. I'm not sure why but it was really hard to chew. There was flavour, in fact, it was great flavour within the batter but the meat was just tough. If they were to get that right, it would be great.
Overall, the food was great and I had a second serving. Loved the Paella rice that goes really well with the fish for some reasons. That sweet, savoury and spicy taste, absolutely delicious. I hope the quality and standards remains as they open up more branches throughout Malaysia, hopefully in Sunway Pyramid. As of now, this would be my choice for Fish & Chips within the franchise region.

haha ... the chicken was chewy & I could have misinterpreted it as sotong. But the fish were awesome, I loved the rice. Can even eat it on its own.
