Chicago Rib House 2014 Mother's Day Promotion @ 1 Utama

12:01:00 AM

Hello again! After my last meal at Chicago Rib house, which was early February to try their flambeed ribs, I am here once again to review their Mother's Day menu, all thanks to Jenny and Joann from Foodcult.

What is the best way to spend Mothers Day if not taking time off to treat the one who raised you, educated you and of course, loved you all along. Now, even on a tight budget, one will be able to at Chicago Rib house.

From 18 April to 18 May, diners can express their love for their mothers by surprising them with a scrumptious 3 course Mother's Day meal featuring some of Chicago Rib House signature dishes at a fantastic price of RM59.90.

In addition to the fantastic offer, Chicago Rib House will also be organizing a mother's look alike contest. All you have to do is snap a photo with your mother and the Mother's Day set menu, and post it on their Facebook page, you might just stand a chance to win a trip for two worth RM2,000 to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

Without further a due, here are the reviews!

Starters (choice of)

Pigs in Blanket

Juicy, bite-size, BBQ cocktail sausages wrapped with grilled Bacon and served with Chicago Rib House's signature Bourbon sauce. Something different from usual, my appetizers are normally light and easy but this was an exception. Despite the rich and flavourful sausages, it was served at a acceptable portion for a starter.

Potato Skins

Crispy potato skins covered in cheese, topped with chives, bacon bits and served with ranch dressing. Without doubt, this was my favourite starter. I personally love potatoes, not to mention with the addition of bacon and ranch dressing. It was pretty good. Crispy, soft & chewy, sour & salty; a burst of textures and flavours.

Beer Battered Fried Mushrooms

Crispy fried mushrooms served with ranch dressing. Somehow I feel as if they love to serve everything with ranch. Anyway, I did not really enjoy this as I personally felt that the batter was a little to thick, making it really hard to taste the juiciness of the mushrooms. The ranch did not really help either.

Main Course - with 2 sides (choice of)

Trio of Ribs

3 racks of baby back ribs served with Original BBQ, honey garlic & Bourbon sauce. Yes, this was my pick for the main course. Why would I order anything else considering that the name of the restaurant is Chicago Rib House.

Nevertheless, the trio of ribs tasted pretty similar to one another. The only notable difference was between the bourbon and garlic. The original BBQ sauce was hanging in between there somewhere. Regardless, the ribs were cooked really well. It was moist and was fairly easy to detach the meat from the bones. Lovely to suck on as well.

Salmon & Shrimp in Caper Sauce

This wasn't my order but I had a taste. Salmon was slightly overcooked but the sauce was pretty good. It was bursting with rich, creamy and salty flavours all around. The chosen sides were beer battered fries and coleslaw. Fortunately, the standards for the sides remained since my previous visit. Dessert (choice of)

Chocolate Sundae

Last but not least, a chocolate sundae to end the meal with. Vanilla ice cream topped with hot fudge sprinkled with sliced almonds; giving that extra crunch! However, I do wish that the vanilla ice cream was slightly creamier and richer. This personally, was too mild for me.

Banana Split

I may not have the photo here, but it was the exact same thing but with added bananas on the side. Also, the vanilla ice cream was chocolate instead. I would choose the banana split simply because it has better value! =D

So there you have it. A RM59.90 Mother's Day menu. Really affordable, comfortable place and good food. What else would you expect? Perhaps a martini or wine to enlighten the mood! =D
