Fifty Tales @ Bandar Sri Damansara (BSD)

Fans of ramen, you might enjoy this new 'ramen' joint. Nestled between the housing estates of Bandar Sri Damansara, Fifty Tales is home to a localised version of Japanese Ramen. One might call it Malaysian-ramen, or perhaps, Chinese-ramen.

Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon - RM26
My very first reaction to this place was, ramen! However, it turned out to be a slightly different version of what I'd thought it'l lbe, and in this case, it's a form of localised-ramen.

Unlike their OG series, this actually comes with their famous braised pork and prawns, served in a clear pork-bone broth with added Shao Hsing wine. Boiled over a long period of time, the broth is both rich yet clear and light. It has sufficient flavour to coat the handmade egg noodles - which was enjoyably chewy and firm.

The soft-boiled egg along with the perfectly braised and seared pork, as well as the prawns, were a great addition to the dish itself. Definitely recommended.

Funk Mee - RM18

A dry-noodle version of bean paste with minced pork, shredded spring onions and sliced carrots. An interesting take for those who prefers dry-noodle, not too salty, with just the right of flavour. The noodles also did a great job in soaking all that sauce.

Generous serving of sauces & vegetables.

That's the boss right in the middle - losing all his hair from success. Friendly team with an amazingly clean kitchen.

The interior is a modern/rustic look with a silver/grey & brown finish. For those sitting at the bar, you can see them in action, preparing your noodles.

If you're interested to know more, you could always talk to the owner over the counter.

Fifty Tales is located at Bandar Sri Damansara, right next to a housing area. For some reason I wasn't able to go in using the usual road, and had to go in through the residence's guardhouse. A little stupid, but it worked. Location is quite quaint with ample parking, so no worries there.

  1. The ramen looks great! I will try this if I pass by the area. Most probably I will go with my baby. Before this I need to find baby car seat cleaning service as the seat is very dirty after the long use.
