Buns & Meat (New Menu Launch) @ Lakefields, Sungei Besi

9:00:00 AM

If you've not known, I've listed Buns & Meat as one of my top 5 personal favourite restaurant of the year 2015. http://www.findingfats.com/2015/07/top-5-personal-favourite-restaurant-of.html. For a full review on my first visit, http://www.findingfats.com/2015/03/buns-meat-lakefields-sungei-besi.html. The reason is fairly simple, they offer delicious food at an incredible price. Heck, I would say that it's a steal to dine here. So without further ado, here are some of Buns & Meat's latest item on the menu.

The entrance.

Black Sesame Milkshake & Earl Grey Milk Shake - RM14.90

Before we kick off with the food menu, Buns & Meat has also recently introduced several milkshakes, two of which are black sesame and earl grey. Though the black sesame has a richer flavour, the earl grey was more pleasant to my palate. It's smooth, aromatic and has a lovely after taste, which lingers within your tongue and mouth. Simple, milky and absolutely filling. 1 cup of this milkshake would've been suffice for my breakfast.

buns and meat pork belly taco wrap

Korean Pork Belly Tacos - RM14.90

Beginning with the Korean Pork Belly Tacos, where a lightly toasted wrap that has a local essence, similar to roti canai is filled with deliciously marinated, spicy-sweet kimchi sauce pork belly. Paired with shredded cucumber, and lettuce, the wrap was both well-textured and savoury.

buns and meat fried prawn taco

Deep Fried Prawn Tacos - RM16.90

Apart from the Korean Pork Belly, they too have a prawn version. Done in a tempura manner, the prawn is both crispy and succulent. Paired with a good amount of tobiko sauce, shredded cucumber and lettuce, the Deep Fried Prawn Tacos has a great depth of flavour and crunch to it. In comparison, I actually prefer this more to the Korean Pork Belly Tacos.

buns and meat soft shell crab burger

The Messy Crab Burger - RM25.90

One of the latest additions, a Japanese inspired soft shell crab burger topped with poached egg and drenched with tobiko sauce. Before anything else, it is crucial to break the yolk first and allow the sweet and rich concoction of fluid to overflow the burger, giving it both flavour and an essence of creaminess.

The flavours of the burgers were nicely balanced. With the amount of mayo, tobiko sauce, crispy soft shell crab, tomatoes, lettuce and buttery bun. Even though I would prefer the soft shell crab to be slightly thicker, or rather, a little more bite to it, the burger was delicious to say least. Paired with perfectly seasoned fries and a side of salad.

buns and meat balinese pork ribs

Balinese Pork Ribs - RM49.90

Last but not least, a delicious slab of Balinese Pork Ribs, marinated with a sweet and savoury sauce and baked perfectly pink. Getting the flesh of the bones was as easy as taking a candy from a kid. It glides smoothly without additional effort and that was something that I really enjoy. After all, I'm lazy like that.

The flesh, like all their previous ribs, was incredibly tender and moist. Though this slab wasn't as fatty as I desire it to be, the flavours were good. Squeeze in a half a lime and you'll enjoy a slightly different feel. Finish it off with some spicy-sweet and sour homemade sambal-salsa and the full experience can be achieved. Good flavour, lovely texture and delicious sambal-salsa. Absolute delight to say the least.

In conclusion, Buns & Meat has done it again. They have launched a new menu where the items were not only deliciously rich, but balanced in flavour as well as a good play in texture. The food, along with the drinks are definitely worth visiting. Come with a couple of friends and share the joy of food.
