Ante Kitchen & Bar @ Publika, Solaris Dutamas (Revisit)

11:26:00 PM

Truth to be told, it has been ages since I last visited Ante Kitchen & Bar back in 2013. Not to mention that over the course of 3 years, they have been constantly developing and improving not only their menu selection, but their core dishes as well. As usual, Ante Kitchen & Bar is a sanctuary for pork lovers and not for the poor pigs slaughtered. But anyway, this time round, I'm here to try out their latest brunch menu!

The entrance.

The interior has been kept the same, except for the fact that the lounge couch is gone, everything else seemed pretty similar.

Ante Big Breakfast - RM39

Before I begin, I would like to point out that Ante Kitchen & Bar smokes their own set of bacon. And if anything, I would say it was the best smoked bacon I've ever had the privilege to enjoy. It wasn't as salty as normal bacon but it was really smoky. The fat within the bacon doesn't exactly melts, but it had a nice chewing sensation - absolutely delicious!

It's quite sad that it only has 1 slice, but an additional slice can be add-on with a price of RM8 per slice. Served with a trio of mushrooms, bratwurst sausages, your choice of eggs on sourdough bread and their homemade guacamole.

The combination was not only amazing as a hole, but even individually, it was absolutely delicious. Well seasoned and packed with flavour and texture. The Ante Big Breakfast also comes with a complimentary coffee!

Dried Fried Soft Poached Eggs with Bacon - RM32

I would personally say that this is an evolution to our standard eggs benedict. Dont with a "de-meated" scotch egg, where the minced meat has been taken out and left with only the skin. It's crisp, well cooked and still remained runny. Served on a bed of aioli with bacon and sourdough bread on the side, the combination was phenomenal. Great play of texture, flavours and definitely a step above the rest.

House Cured Salmon with Scrambled Eggs - RM29

Compared to the previous two dish, this was relatively simpler. Like the bacon, the salmon is smoked in-house as well. In terms of flavours, it's not as great as the first two dishes but it does have an identity of its own. Light and simple are what I would use to describe the dish.

Orecchiette Aglio Olio - RM25

Last but not least, I had the Orecchiette Aglio Olio. To be honest, this was my first time trying Orecchiette pasta. For those who do not know, it actually looks like a small hat or a toilet bowl-like shape.

The pasta may look simple but the complexity of balancing the flavours and texture certainly wasn't. Served with cubed beetroots, cherry tomatoes, candied olives, dills and of course, the infamous smoked bacon (which was awesome). It's light but flavourful and undeniably delicious. Definitely worth trying!

In short, I believe that Ante Kitchen & Bar has evolved tremendously since 3 years ago. The menu has been scaled down in order to ensure quality, freshness and most importantly, consistency. I personally loved the smoked bacon and without a doubt revisit just for that. More importantly, the standards of the restaurant has been improved. Lots of dishes to try as I heard the Pork Steak was delicious. Will definitely be back for that!
