The Front Door Cafe @ Grocer's Inn, Jalan Sultan

8:00:00 AM

It isn't everyday that I get to visit such an old looking cafe, especially when its in downtown KL. A little far for my convenience. Nevertheless, I had to pay The Front Door Cafe a visit due to its popularity.

The entrance.

The Front Door Cafe is located at Grocer's Inn, Jalan Sultan. Right next to Petaling Street. The cafe is literally the front door to a backpacker hotel. The restaurant features a fully functioning kitchen alongside a counter that serves coffee and cakes. The tables were pretty generous as well and those by the wall comes with wall sockets and a bottle of water. Appreciate the thought that was put into it.

1 slice - RM6
3 slice - RM18
5 slice - RM27

The Front Door Cafe has been very popular with their selection of toast. Each with their own unique ingredients and taste. Some of what we had include Orange Chicken Pesto, Peanut Butter with Bananas, Asparagus with Mushroom, Almond Apple Caramel and Bacon and Strawberries.

Among the 5 that we've had, the Bacon and Strawberries stood out the most. Beautifully presented and tasted really unique. The saltiness from the bacon and the sweetness from the strawberries truly worked hand in hand. The Asparagus with Mushroom too were cooked and seasoned perfectly. Love the flavours.

Big Breakfast - RM22

I personally believe that The Front Door Cafe's big breakfast is one of the few best big breakfast that I've had. To begin, the scramble eggs were extremely fluffy and well seasoned. The toasts were nice and crisp, served with soft butter. Mushrooms and cherry tomatoes were perfectly sauteed and seasoned generously. Bacon was a little oily but its forgivable. The only thing I dislike was the sausage itself as it felt too normal. But overall, the big breakfast was pretty damn good.

Chicken Pesto Pasta - RM18

The Pesto Chicken Pasta, which is made freshly with nutty pesto served with slices of pan seared chicken breast. It’s light and refreshing with a pretty unique after-taste. However, it might be a little bland so do remember to request for salt and pepper if desired.

Overall, I felt that The Front Door Cafe is a really nice place to chill and relax when I'm in KL. The food was pretty good too, loved the toasts and the big breakfast. The chicken pesto could use a little more work but nevertheless, the Front Door Cafe is definitely a place of visit.
