Thirdwave Cafe @ Nexus, Bangsar South

8:00:00 AM

In all fairness, I have never been to Nexus Bangsar for a review. Well I used to stay nearby but really never had the thought of going there. Anyway, I've heard a lot about Thirdwave Cafe and I'm finally here to try it! On first impression, the place looked really simple and nice - especially the shopfront. Simple, white and asymmetrical. Inside, the space is divided rather generously and they too have a mini coffee bar.

On to their menu side, I'm here to review about their latest inception of the lunch menu. Available weekdays from 12pm-2pm with 1 main, 1 homemade soup of the day and 1 drink of your choice. More details below.

The entrance.

The interior was really well designed. I really appreciate the colour combination of Cyan, white, black and bown.

I started off with a freshly pressed orange juice. Really refreshing and truly one of my absolute favourite juice of all time. (Aside from watermelon, melon and various other berries)

Moroccan Lamb Burger with Mint Mustard Vinaigrette (Cheddar Cheese + RM2)

Though I personally find it a little absurd to be charging extra RM2 for cheddar cheese, the lamb burger itself was pretty good. The patty was not only juicy but well seasoned and cooked to perfection as well. The omelette that was topped on too gave that added texture and richness of flavour. Buns were soft, fluffy and held the burger really well.

The wedges too were absolutely delicious. Crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside, it was so good that we fought for it.

Boneless Thirdwave Fried Chicken

This was absolutely delicious. The chicken was crunch, crisp, well seasoned and perfectly tender and juicy. Not to mention the additional sauce it comes on the side - sweet, spicy and a little tangy which complimented the chicken really well! And like before, the wedges was simply perfect.

Funghi Oglio Olio Spaghetti

Though I appreciate the freshness of ingredients used, I simply can't help but think that it was a little under-seasoned. It tasted really light, which is a good thing but its lacking that depth of flavour. Personally, I do not enjoy it as much but I wouldn't say its a bad pasta - simply lacking of flavour.

Garlicky Chicken Fusilli (Spinach sauce & fragrant chicken mince)

This on the other hand, tasted much better than the one before. It has depth, flavour, texture and even presentation. Loved the vibrant green spinach sauce and the fusilli was cooked to perfection. However, what really made this dish great was the fragrant chicken mince. It added that layer of depth and dimension for an extra kick of flavour and texture.

Al Ragu Spaghetti

This of course, is my favourite. I've always been a fan of slow-cooked tomato based meat sauce. It's rich, flavourful, addictive and most importantly, possesses that depth that I seek. Perfectly seasoned and generously topped - a beautiful plate indeed.

Hot Pressed BLT Ciabatta

I quite enjoyed this dish as it was fairly straight-forwarded and rather delicious. Fresh vege on sliced cheese and ham with mayonnaise and finish on ciabatta bread. Loved it.

Waffle Ice Cream with Strawberries, Blueberries and Banana

Last but not least, our dessert. Beautifully presented and tasted absolutely amazing. The waffle was soft, fluffy and buttery. The ice cream too was well balanced and not too sweet, which complimented both the waffles and the additional condiments. However, what really elevated this dessert was the sprinkle of some sort of flower-stalk thing. It gave that natural sweetness and aroma that no other could replicate.

One of the specialty in Thirdwave Cafe is their award winning barista - and coffee. Named the Panama Kotowa Wine, which was blessed with the lightness and sweetness of cherry flavour. It's clear, aromatic and absolutely refreshing.

To summarize, Thirdwave certainly offers delicious food at a consistent rate. Everything was good, well seasoned and beautifully presented as well. Though there may be 1 exception but who doesn't right? Loved the set-up, food and of course, the awesome coffee bar area where they demonstrate live how to brew a certain type of coffee.
