Mezze Bar & Bistro's Christmas Menu 2016 @ Medan Damansara, KL

5:00:00 PM

Christmas is a day where anyone can celebrate the the joy of gift-giving, as well as good food and company. We all know there are a variety of restaurants that offer Christmas dinners, some may be expensive while some may be fairly affordable. As for Mezze, they too had introduced 2 special menu for this coming Christmas and New Years.

Christmas Menu: Choice of Starters - Choose 1

Terrine De Foie Gras Served with Mango Chutney & Fig Bread

A simple yet incredibly flavourful and rich starter. The foie gras had a nice and smooth consistency that easily spreadable on the crusty fig bread, topped with a tangy mango chutney that just helped cut through all that richness.

Mille Feuille Smoked Salmon with Lemon Mascarpone

A dish for salmon lovers. Slices of raw salmon were filled with a vibrant mascarpone mix. The dish was rich in flavour while being somewhat velvety when it comes to the texture of the salmon and lemon mascarpone. You can also opt to spread them on piece of crusty toast, which I personally found it to be quite nice.

Leek, Roquefort, Escargot Stew in Puff Pastry

This, despite being the most common, was my favourite amongst the 3 choice of starters. The puff pastry was flaky and light, while the stew was well packed with flavour. The combination was perfect and I personally felt that this was more 'Christmas-y'.

Christmas Menu: Choice of Mains - Choose 1

Turkey Roulade with Apple, Cranberry & Pecan Stuffing

Ah, turkey - the epitome of a Christmas dinner. I on the other hand, do not like turkey as much due to its lack of moisture and dry-ness of the meat. Though this dish was cooked quite nicely, where the turkey still had a bit of juice in them, I did not enjoy it as much. The sauces and baby potato on the side are great though.

Lamb Loin crusted with Black Olive

The other main would be a beautifully done, lamb loin crusted with crushed black olives and served on a bed of Couscous, with a side of Christmas chutney rolls and salad. As you can see from the photo above, the lamb is cooked to perfection. Though I desire a tad bit more seasoning, there is not denying that the meat was perfectly tender and juicy. The Couscous acted as a form of carb, which made it a little more heartier.

Pan Fried Sea Bass with Buttered Spinach, Clams & Poached Prawns

Last but not least, my favourite amongst the mains. This portion of perfectly pan fried seabass had a nice crispiness to the skin while maintaining and incredibly moist and succulent flesh. It was also really flaky, which was how I like my fish. The buttered spinach added a little more body to the dish while the clams was a great snack on the side. Flavours and everything else was just right, and I would recommend this to those who fancies fish.

Christmas Menu: Choice of Dessert - Choose 1

Chocolate Christmas Yule Log

A classical dessert made pretty. The center was filled with ice cream, encased in a chocolate mousse followed by another layer of chocolate sauce. It truly was a sweet end to the meal.

Red Fruit Pavlova with Balsamic Vinegar Reduction

Last but not least, a pavlova. Personally, I'm not much of a fan towards pavlova, but this was really pretty and the meringue was done quite nicely. I enjoyed the amount of fruits and berries on top and overall, I'd find it quite pleasant.

All and all, most of what I had on the Christmas menu was fantastic. There were some hit and misses with me due to my preferences but overall, everything was done incredibly well.

This Christmas menu will only be available on the 24th of December 2016 - Christmas Eve. Reservation will be necessary and the price is set at RM160++ per pax. There's also a choice of wine for an additional RM140 for 4 glasses
