Huckleberry Food and Fare @ Bukit Damansara

7:15:00 PM

The new and revamped Huckleberry has been around for almost a year now, and I've only recently got to try it out. It is located in Bukit Damansara, where all the fancy bungalows are helmed. As far as I'm aware, Huckleberry feels a lot like a bakery than a restaurant to me. Having said that, the review this time would be regarding its main courses. So without further ado, let us ssee what they have to offer.

The ever so dark interior - especially at night.

The Bird Waffle - RM24.90

Starting off with The Bird Waffle. I can see why it's call that way, but still find it rather odd for a name of a dish. In any case, crispy buttermilk fried chicken thighs are sandwiched between two fluffy waffles and served with honey on the side. This dish may seem odd, but the flavours do work pretty well. It might get some getting used to at first though.

Chilli Con Kanye - RM26.90

At this point of time I kinda doubt the naming team behind Huckleberry. Anyway, this version of the chilli con carne certainly was quite savoury. The minced beef was nicely seasoned and the additional toppings did gave it an added depth. The buns were soft and nicely buttered while the chips were crisp and fluffy.

Chuck Norris & Drop The Bass Tacos - RM21.90 & RM19.90

Two very delicious tacos with very puny names. Huckleberry's version of these tacos aren't exactly Mexican, but they do taste quite nice. Personally, I favor the Chuck Norris more as it was more flavourful, but the Drop The Bass wasn't that bad either. It was just a little too light for me.

K-pop Frenzy - RM19.90 (6) /RM39.90 (12)

The reason why it's called K-pop Frenzy is quite simple - the sauce. It's a spicy gochujang sauce that is common found in many of the Korean dishes. This on the other hand, was a lot spicer than that as I believe they've added few other ingredients. The chicken was nicely fried as the flesh was still tender while the skin was incredibly sticky. Pretty good, but torturous the next day.

Another One Bites the Crust - RM32.90

This time, I truly have no idea why is it called that way. However, this pizza is a great interpretation of a breakfast pizza, where you'll find all the nutrition you need for breakfast in one single serving. From baked beans to bacon, mushroom to sausages and of course, eggs as well, they're all found here. Nicely seasoned and baked perfectly.

What The Cluk - RM20.90

This is another dish that uses Huckleberry's signature buttermilk fried chicken. Instead, it's done in a burger and it's topped with mayo-sriracha sauce, house-slaw and lettuce. The dish is a little too heavy for my liking, but might just hit on the right spot for those who love chicken burgers.

Salted Caramel Milkshake & Canna Butter Kisses - RM15.90 & RM23.90

Apart from the fattening array of food, they also have some drinks to compliment. These are some of their signature milkshakes. It's sweet, it's addictive and ultimately sinful.

Craft Beers

These are more towards what I enjoy - craft beers. They offer a variety of famous craft beers along with some onion rings on some of them. The guilty pleasure here is indeed high.

Handcrafted Cocktails

I'm not so much of a cocktail person myself, but I do enjoy the one in the middle. I can't remember what it's called but it certainly was refreshing!

All and all, this review has certainly changed my perception of Huckleberry. What I initially thought was a simple bakery and pastry cafe has now turned into this beast that serves pretty much everything. Most of what I had were pretty rich in flavour, but if you're on a cheat day, that shouldn't be an issue!
