5.1 Cafe Gallery @ Sri Petaling, KL

5:30:00 PM

I've always thought that 5.1 would mean sound surround, you know, Dolby Sound Surround 5.1? Yeah, but apparently, it means the PH level of acidity in coffee, which is why it's called 5.1 Cafe Gallery. Enough about the history, let's go more into what they offer.

A rather artistic corner.

Matcha Latte

Starting off strong with a vibrant cup of matcha latte done beautifully. It also packs a good amount of flavour, both sweet along with a slightly bitter end which I enjoy.

Mocha

Their version of the mocha too is made quite nicely. Unlike most places, 5.1 Cafe Gallery's version is a lot more chocolatey and rich. Though it felt as if the ratio of chocolate to coffee is 60:40, it is still a delicious drink to say the least.

Rose Latte

A cute coffee art of a cat thinking of fish, on a cup of rose infused latte. Though many might find this a little more feminine, the drink itself was pretty good. The permeation of the rose worked rather subtle without destroying the essence of coffee, or making it into a frappe.

5.1 Tortilla Pizza - RM15.90

To start of with the mains, we were served a plate of their signature pizza done on a tortilla base. The combination of bacon,  mushrooms, cherry tomato, cheese and tomato sauce is fairly straight-forward, but delicious nonetheless. If you enjoy eating thin crust pizzas, this is definitely worth the shot.

Sausage Tortilla Pizza - RM12.90

Something similar to the previous one but with a slight difference in ingredients. But overall, this was still delicious and the pizza is a little more moist as compared to the one before. But in terms of flavours, I still prefer the first one.

Sensational Bite - RM12.90

This may look like a mess but I can assure you, it's quite a delicious mess to say the least. A take on a traditional sandwich with added ingredients such as sausage, chicken ham, crab roll and cheese, douse with a good load of BBQ and tomato sauce. This dish is what I would consider as a comfort food and is to be eaten only when you're starving.

Crispy Crunch Banana - RM12.90

Another one of 5.1 Cafe Gallery's popular pick for desserts. Thin layer of tortilla topped with banana, peanut, almond, chocolate syrup, strawberry and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It's light, sweet and packed full of chocolatey goodness. One serving of this should have sufficient chocolate for the next 2 weeks or so.

Our Cereal - RM12.90

This is similar to the one before, but personally, I did not enjoy it as much. Though the cornflakes provided a unique texture to the whole experience, eating it was hard as the cornflakes kept falling off. The difficulty of the dish made it unpleasant, which is the main reason why I do not like it.

This is still an experimental dish, so we were one of the first few to give it a try. I do not know what this is called, but the tortilla is used like a crepe, encasing cream, cut mango and chocolate syrup within. The idea is there but the execution is lacking. Perhaps a more solid approach may help lessen the mess that it'll make after trying to cut it open.

Tortilla Chicken - RM15.90

Last but not least, we had this serving of delicious Tortilla Chicken that comes with one whole chicken thigh, deboned. The chicken was also marinated and fried to crispy perfection, while retaining a moist interior, which made the whole dish very enjoyable. The homemade black pepper sauce too was great, as it added depth of flavour to the dish and gave it a little more moisture. Overall, this dish comes highly recommended and the price is worthed every penny.

In conclusion, if you're looking for a place to sit down, relax and enjoy a quick bite or two, this is definitely the place for you. They have free wifi and water refills by the counter, also not forgetting the Coffee Buffet everyday from 4pm-7pm at only RM19.90 per person. Each order also comes with one set of pastry, which gives it a little more value added bonus.
