Restoran New Peng Wah @ Damansara Jaya

5:24:00 PM

I haven't been writing much about Chinese food these days due to my inactiveness in keeping up with such restaurant. To be fair, it is also quite rare for me to have a decent Chinese meal because of my small family. Hence, western has always been part of our stable instead of Chinese cuisine.

So when I did get a chance to try out Restoran New Peng Wah, I was thrilled. Some of you might have heard of this place, or perhaps the older generation by the name of Restoran Peng Wah. It is in fact, a family lineage as Restoran New Peng Wah has taken over the previously famed Restoran Peng Wah.

So without further ado, here is our feast of the night!

Feast!

Signature Deep Fried Ma Yau (Senangin) - RM6

Starting off the meal with a delicious piece of Signature Deep Fried Fish. For this version, we opt for the Ma Yau fish, which I have no idea what on Earth that is, but what I do know is that the flavours were great and skin was crispy as hell. It's not the biggest fish that I've had, but certainly was fresh and addictive.

Signature Potato Fried Pork - RM25

Do not be fooled by its horrible looking appearance as the taste will blow you away. Beautifully done, sliced and braised potatoes along sliced fried pork worked brilliantly together. The flavours were simply amazing and adding it with some steamy rice was undeniably delicious.

Stew Grouper Fish Head - RM48 (large)

If you prefer something a little saltier but still has a punch of flavours, this is the dish for you. It's sweet, spicy and salty at the same time. The fish has been pretty much cut up to many smaller chunks, therefore rendering it a little more difficult to eat. Having said that, it's still possible to salvage what's left and enjoy it with some rice.

Homestyle Claypot Brinjal - RM28 (large)

Again, the dish may not look like much but it does have a rather interesting texture. It's both sticky, slimy and somewhat nutty at the same time. The flavours, without a doubt was absolutely perfect. I could taste a good amount of brinjal along with beans, potatoes and various other ingredients. The balance was just right and the dish itself wasn't very salty. This comes highly recommended!

Signature Sliced Pork with Nyonya Sauce - RM28 (large)

Something a little spicier, but worked well with its sour counterpart is this dish - Restoran New Peng Wah's Signature Sliced Pork with Homemade Nyonya Sauce. Packed with a good amount of ingredients such as onions, chilis, okra, lettuce and several others excluding the tender-soft pork slices, the dish itself was great to say the least. Good flavour, good balance and a generous portion.

Claypot Hua Tiew Wine Chicken - RM30 (large)

As seen from the photo above, the dish is expected to possess a rich depth of flavour, which it did. A hint of yellow wine can be tasted through the sauce, while the chicken has been braised till tender perfection. It also has a good amount of thinly sliced ginger to give it that heat, which elevates the flavour of the gravy to another level. Worked wonders with rice and definitely comes recommended.

Cantonese Style Hor Fun - RM18 (large)

For those who do not wish to have rice, you can opt for their Cantonese Style Hor Fun instead. It's done with a good amount of eggs in the gravy, alongside vegetables, shallots, and various other ingredients which makes the dish taste pretty decent.

In conclusion, Restoran New Peng Wah is more than just a place of Chinese food. It's a place for family to gather and have a good time. The type of food here certainly is worth the share among your loved ones. Of course, the pricing may not be the friendliest, but the food is definitely well worth the price.
