Ippudo Ramen Grand Opening @ Bangsar Shopping Center (BSC)

4:13:00 PM

Its been a while since my last update on food, hopefully not too late. Anyway, I was invited to Ippudo Ramen's media launch in Bangsar 2 weeks back. For those who have been to the one in Pavilion, Kuala Lumpur, this was rather different both aesthetically and menu-choice.

Ippudo Ramen Bangsar had included 15 new appetizers and snacks. Furthermore, for those who enjoy alcoholic beverages; cocktails, sake and wine are available as well.

On a side note, I really do like the design of the place.

Lovely interior.

*Note, the above photos are official photos from Ippudo Ramen themselves. I do not own any of them.

The Sake Barrel Breaking Ceremony (Kagami-biraki). A tradition that symbolize harmony and is said to bring good fortune.

Lovely starters. Really enjoyed the salmon one.

Buffet-styled appetizers.

Freaking awesome Salmon Mentaiko. I kept going back for more that I actually felt guilty returning for the 4th time.

Akamaru Shinaji - Top left
Ippudo's original tonkatsu broth enhanced with special blended miso paste and fragrant garlic oil.

I personally believe that this is the most basic and balanced ramen of all. It had a rich, fragrant and salty soup along with some really springy handmade ramen. The additional pork belly was also juicy, sweet and tender.

Karakamen - Top right
Ippudo's original tonkatsu broth with special spicy miso, cashew nuts & ground pork.

Tasted really similar to the Akamaru Shinaji, only slightly spicier.

Ippudo Kuro - Bottom left (only available at BSC branch)
Thick, chewy noodles served in tonkatsu broth, topped with BBQ pork, flavoured black fungus, spring onions, spicy blended miso paste and fragrant pork.

This was by far my favourite ramen of the night. Not only it has a slightly different noodles, the broth had an intense flavour as well. Even though this was the 3rd one which I tried, the immense flavour still manage to kick me in my tongue.

Shiromaru Motaji - Bottom right
Ippudo's original tonkatsu broth served with ultra-thin noodles, pork loin, bean sprouts, kikurage & spring onions. A classic Hakata-styled ramen.

Unfortunately, this was my least favourite. No doubt it has flavour but it was a little too salty for my liking. It was supposed to be a lighter version of ramen but somehow it turned out really salty. Not sure if that is what they were going for though.

Conclusion
Overall, I believe the 4 bowls of ramen that I've tried were indeed good and the interior was cozy and comfortable as well. With minimal or dim lightings, my eyes was at ease.
