Kuroba Cafe - A Japanese and Western Fusion @ Setia Alam

10:49:00 PM

The Setia Alam Pasar Malam is without a doubt, incredibly popular. Not just for the locals, but for people out of Shah Alam and Klang as well. Perhaps it's due to the length of the pasar malam as it is after all, pretty long. Taking up an entire stretch, right in front of several blocks of shophouses.

Maybe it's the variety and choices available when it comes to food, products, clothes, phone accessories or raw ingredients. Regardless of the reason, you'll definitely be spending a good amount of money of the food, sometimes even more. Which is why I'm here to introduce to you Kuroba Cafe. Located right next to the pasar malam along one of the blocks, it's a great place to be either before or after your visit to the pasar malam.

So without further ado, here is what they offer.

The entrance.

The casual and cozy interior.

Double Cheese Pork Burger - RM15.90

Starting with a standard form of pork burger Done with two types of cheese, mozzarella in the middle of the patty and cheddar slice on top along with a sunny side up over a bed of lettuce and sliced tomatoes, finished with a fluffy charcoal bun. Served with crispy potato wedges and coleslaw with homemade sesame dressing on the side. Simple and delicious!

Bonito Pizza - RM15.90

Next on the list is a bonito pizza. For those that do not know what bonito is, they're light flakes made from fish and is commonly used in Japanese cuisine, especially on takoyaki. Putting a handful of them on hot food will cause it to swirl and twirl, which is somewhat enjoyable to watch.

Back to the pizza, it has a rich taste of bonito as they're incredibly generous with it. The pizza is also done incredibly thin, almost paper-like and crispy with a good amount of sauce, teriyaki chicken and various other toppings. This is the perfect snack for those who wishes not to eat a lot but still wants flavour.

Yakisoba - RM15.90

Believe it or not, this tasted similar to maggi goreng in a good way. The smokiness and essence of it, as it was stir-fried, resembles very closely to that. Progressively, each bite actually tasted better than before. Done with a good amount of capsicum, cabbage, seaweed, and bonito flakes.

Salmon Salad - RM16.90

If you're looking for something a little healthier, or perhaps lighter, this is definitely worth the try. Beautifully pan-seared salmon laid on a bed of lettuce, onions and cherry tomatoes, finished with a drizzle of homemade sesame seed dressing and some crispy fried fish skin. It's light, easy to eat and addictive, if you're a fan of salad.

Tonkotsu Ramen - RM15.90

Apart from all that, Kuroba Cafe also offers ramen in their menu. The tonkotsu ramen is done with a broth that has been boiled over a long period of time with some of the ingredients imported from Japan. Noodles were springy and char siew was tender and juicy, this bow of ramen is definitely worth the try if you're at Kuroba Cafe.

Miso Ramen - RM14.90

For those who wants something lighter and refreshing, this might be the bowl of ramen for you. The miso soup was somehow really appetising, while the noodles were cooked to springy perfection. Served with a good amount of enoki mushrooms and broccoli.

In conclusion, Kuroba Cafe is more than just a cozy place for family to gather before their trip to the pasar malam. It is a place for a good Japanese-western fusion food at a great price! So what are you waiting for? Bring your family and friends over today and enjoy a fusion feast.
