De' Amour Cafe @ Kota Damansara

8:00:00 AM

Thanks to OpenRice, I had the joy of dining in one of Kota Damansara's most aesthetically beautiful restaurants. Locating beside Sunway Giza Mall, De' Amour Cafe is founded by Ms Jennifer Yap, a former Ms Pahang Tourism 2011 and Ms Malaysia Tourism (Metropolitan) 2011 who has the passion and love for good food. With a simple and comfortable interior, and perhaps some Sapporo beer, it was lovely indeed.

Baked Scallop with Spicy Cream Sauce - RM16

One of my favourite dish of the night. 6 baked scallops with spicy cream sauce served on a plate. Wonderful flavour, moist and tender scallops and a little spiciness. Well balanced and an enjoyable appetizer.

Smoked Duck Breast Salad  -RM15

As I was late, I only managed to try one slice. However, even with that I would dare say it was really good. The tenderness, juiciness, flavour and a hint of smokeyness were in harmony. Lovely balance of flavours along with its light tossed vinaigrette salad.

Chicken Parmigiana - RM22

Similar to what some people might call it, Chicken Parmesan, is a serving of fried chicken topped with Parmesan cheese and bolognese sauce. Served with fries or mashed potatoes and salad. Chicken was tender and juicy however, it wasn't crispy enough. The skin was a little soggy for me. The bolognese and cheese sauce were alright, they had their flavours but I would expect a little more. Lastly, the fries were on a mediocre standpoint, not something I would applaud.

Porkie Sausage Platter - RM22

2 servings of different sausages. Besides one being rather long and brown while the other was rather thick and skin-coloured. Both the texture were pretty tender, although the skin was pretty hard to chew. The flavours, although different were both acceptable. Nothing bad about it. The sauce they've provided was pretty good to dip it with. Finally, fries and salad were similar to the one before.

Grilled French Lamb Rack with Crushed Pistachio - RM38

Another one of my favourite dishes that night. Pink grilled lamb rack, well seasoned, tender and juicy. I did not get to taste much of the sauce so I'm not gonna comment on that. Nothing much to say besides that fact that it needs to be bigger! Potato wedges were really crispy and fluffy. Overall, really good.

Baked Cod Fish with Lemon Butter Sauce - RM38

A unfortunately small serving of this delicious Cod fish. It was tender and lightly seasoned, along with its cream sauce, was a pretty good mix. If only they had more.

Grilled Tenderloin Steak - RM38

A beautiful tenderloin steak grilled to pinkish perfection. It looks absolutely stunning and it did taste amazing as well. Well seasoned, pink, juicy and moist, a very nice chew. The sauce provided was pretty good too, although I somehow do sense a little red wine inside, I'm not entirely sure about this. Even though I've had better, this came pretty close. I wished I had more of it!

Aglio e Olio with Tiger Prawn - RM23

If I'm not mistaken, this was the plate of pasta with the fiery flames of Mumbai. The pasta was a little dry, in addition to the spices used, was pretty tense throughout the journey from my mouth onward. The tiger prawns were a little tiny but nevertheless, pretty tender and well seasoned. Overall, its not a dish I would order but for those who love spicy food, this may be your choice.

Classic Carbonara Spaghetti - RM23

A classic carbonara spaghetti with a serving of poached eggs and bacon (not sure whether turkey or beef). Personally, I find the cream and bits of cheese a little too overwhelming for me. It was cooked correctly but it just wasn't there. The additional egg yolk made it even creamier and it was unbearable. Not my cup of tea.

Tiramisu, Mango Jelly and Rare Cheese Mille Crepe - RM8 each

My first take on the Mille Crepe was the Mango Jelly and it simply was amazing. The right balance between sweet, sour and cream. The texture of individual layers were consistent and smooth. The Tiramisu was good, possibly the best Tiramisu Mille Crepe in town (alot better than Nadeje PJ) but the Mango Jelly stood out a little more. Rare Cheese was alright, it wasn't all great nor was it bad. Just.....alright.

Forgotten photo: Fresh Flower Tea (drinks) - RM7/8
There were 3 pots of fresh flower tea, each with its own unique taste. It was aromatic but a little blunt on taste. Apparently it was meant to be like that. However, after multiple refills, there was barely and dilution of taste, which was good.

My overall experience at De' Amour Cafe was pretty good. With the company of other bloggers as well as the organizers from OpenRice, I had a good time indeed. However, the services of the restaurant were a little hectic. There were times where we do not even know whether our food will be served or the tea being refilled. Having said that, the overall quality of food has compensated for its lack of service, with my favourite being the Grilled Tenderloin Steak, Grilled French Lamb Rack with Crushed Pistachio and Baked Scallop with Spicy Cream Sauce.
