La Cocina Restaurant & Tapas Bar @ Taipan 2, USJ9

8:00:00 AM

It's pretty rare to find Spanish restaurants outside of KL as they usually crowd around the Changkat area. La Cocina on the other hand, offers authentic Spanish dishes and tapas at an affordable price in USJ9. To be quite honest, La Cocina has been around for quite some time, but being a KL person as I never really grew up around the USJ area, I have not tried it till now. Quite fortunately, I was around the area and was able to try it out for the first time! Woooo!

Front facade.

The interior, pretty old school. Warm and comforting.

Spanish Omelette - RM8.90

A simple serving of Spanish omelette with just the right amount of seasoning. Interesting texture and balanced flavour - a great appetizer.

Chef's Salad - RM15.90

The salad was pretty normal, something you can find almost anywhere. The good thing about it was the freshness of ingredients and homemade balsamic olive oil dressing.

Chef Special - Saffron Linguini - RM28.90

This was possibly one of the top few pasta's I've had. Rich, creamy, flavourful and aromatic sauce with a hint of saffron, fresh prawns, mussels, clamp and fish with linguini. Simple and absolutely delicious. Highly recommended!

Filloas Dulces Naranja - RM9.90

The name translates into crepe filled with orange cream cheese and hazelnut cream. An interesting crepe dessert with a tangy and creamy finish. First of its kind that I've had - pretty good.

Overall, the food was pretty good - above average I would say. The pricing was pretty affordable as well. Hence, I wouldn't mind coming occasionally to stir away from the general Chinese, Japanese, Korean or Western cuisine. Spanish is good too!
