MIGF Gala Launch Night 2014 @ Sunway Pyramid Convention Center

Celebrating the month of the Malaysian International Gourmet Festival, from 1st till the end of October, various hotels and fine dining restaurants have come together to showcase their culinary expertise, here in the Gala Launch Night, and for the following Saturday and Sunday. If that's not enough, each of the participants will also serve their "MIGF" menu at their own restaurants for the whole month of October. So fear not for those who has missed it.

The MIGF Gala Launch Night was held at the Theater of Cuisines, Sunway Pyramid Convention Center. Within it, were 28 participating fine dining restaurants and hotels, each with its own type of cuisine and specialty.

The photos shown here are of sample size. You can get the full portion at their respective restaurants. The names I will be presenting later is not its original name, its something I came up with base on their ingredients and presentation. So terribly sorry for those who wishes to know what they really are called.


Strawberry-sorbet like in a chocolate ice cream cone



Salmon with salmon roe


Seared tuna with caviar


Wagyu Beef with Pesto Sauce


Matcha Cake with edible pearl and red bean


Fried croquette with bonito


Wagyu beef with reduced-strawberry chip


Chicken pate on toast


Crabmeat pastry with salmon roe


Grilled prawns with pesto mousse


Squid ink pasta with minced seafood

Those were just some of the samples served at the MIGF Gala Launch Night. In fact, there were so many that I just couldn't finish taking. Plenty to try from, most of them are pretty delicious while some being exotic and quirky.

Basically, that sums up the TasteMIGF 2014 event this year. Lots of food, loud music, free flow of alcohol and good company, what more can I ask for? Really glad to be part of this years' MIGF as well.

    This is the best function room in the city. The food they served was warm, fresh and tasty, and the panoramic window is a sight to behold on a clear day. The main hall at convention center was similar to a club/lounge – however, it had more of an intimate feel.
